An innovative on-chain donations platform on the Coinbase-incubated Base network now allows U.S. politicians to receive cryptocurrency contributions. The platform offers a wide range of crypto options and claims full compliance with U.S. regulations.

A groundbreaking on-chain donations platform has emerged on the Coinbase-incubated Base network, enabling U.S. politicians to accept cryptocurrency contributions. This development marks a significant step in the integration of blockchain technology with political fundraising.

According to the platform’s website, supporters can choose from over 240 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, or opt for credit card payments. The platform emphasizes that crypto donations offer faster and more secure transactions while maintaining full compliance with U.S. regulations.

Engage Raise, the firm behind this initiative, has partnered with Coinbase Commerce to power its operations, as noted by Base network’s lead Jesse Pollak on social media. The platform states that it collects only the minimum information necessary to meet compliance requirements, addressing potential privacy concerns.

Already, 13 U.S. politicians have reportedly signed up to receive crypto donations through this platform. Notable figures include Rep. Tom Emmer and Sen. Cynthia Lummis, both known advocates for blockchain technology. The platform’s “signup as a campaign” feature suggests an open invitation for more political campaigns to join, regardless of party affiliation.

This development comes at a time when cryptocurrency is gaining traction in political fundraising. In a separate initiative, Donald Trump, the Republican Party candidate for the upcoming November presidential election, began accepting cryptocurrency donations in May. His campaign reported receiving $3 million worth of crypto donations in the second quarter alone.
